High School Computer Teacher Specifications


The Narragansett High School computer teacher is under the direct supervision of the high school principal.  He/she will have a regular work load of courses focused on computer technology and/or mathematics courses and will be considered a member of the mathematics department.


High School Computer Teacher Minimum Qualifications


  • Secondary mathematics certification and or degree in computer technology with secondary certification;
  • Utilization of instructional technology in the classroom;
  • Classroom teaching experience;
  • Cisco Networking Academy Certification or a willingness to obtain;
  • A+ Certification or a willingness to obtain;
  • Ability to teach programming languages of Pascal, C++, Visual Basic and HTML.


All determinations of sufficient evidence will be made by the superintendent by February 1st of each year. 



  • Teach computer and/or mathematics courses at the high school;
  • Provide for on-going evaluation of the school technology curriculum and make modifications as needed;
  • Assist the technology director with budget recommendations to ensure that equipment used for the computer courses are adequately updated and maintained;
  • Make recommendations for updating the School Technology Plan;
  • Manage and troubleshoot the computers in the lab;
  • Exhibit legal and ethical behaviors when using information and technology, and discuss consequences of misuse;
  • Interpret the school’s instructional technology program for staff, parents, and members of the community.
