Remember When You Had to Wait?

Have you ever had to wait a long time before you could do something you really enjoy? What did it feel like to wait that long?  What were you waiting to do?  Write a story about that time?  Remember to use a Story Map and Hotspot.

Take Your Time

The Pig family took a lot of time getting to the beach. Each activity seem to make them later and later since they didn't realize exactly how much time they were using.
Time yourself doing some activities. Maybe you'll time yourself to see how long it takes to eat dinner or brush your teeth. I timed myself feeding Prince Edward!
Get a Take Your Time chart and fill in your times.  Compare your chart with a few friends.  Write 5 true sentences about the times on the charts.

Poetry Time

Now it's your turn to have some fun with time. In this activity you will write 5 poems.  They can be any form you'd like.  They can be funny or sad. Be sure to illustrate your poems, too. Please publish your poems in any way you'd like.  You may choose a Poem Book, on a webpage or a poster or your own idea.

What Time Did the Pig Family Arrive?

The Pig family decided they had spent too much time sitting around the house. Off they went to the beach for some exercise. However, they had some trouble getting to the beach.
In this activity you'll fill in the Beach Time chart to find out what time the family actually arrived at the beach and what took them so long to get there.
Go page by page in the book and chart each activity along with its start time, end time and the elapsed time.
     Here is a sample:
Feed Prince Edward      1:10     1:30     20 minutes

One Minute Only

In this activity you'll work with a partner to estimate and then check how many times you can do different activities in one minute.  You'll need a watch with a second hand or you can use the clock in the classroom.  Use a One Minute Only sheet to record your answers.  When you've completed the sheet, use some of your own ideas for activities and record those as well.  Most of all, enjoy!
