In junior high, Tim, along with his brother Jon, was in a Led Zeppelin cover band. Then in high school along with his brother Jon, Tim and their friend Chad Butler created the band called “Chin Up”. This then changed to Switchfoot and this first album “Legend of Chin” was released days after Tim graduated from high school.

Tim graduated college from UC San Diego with at degree of history of science and a minor of business.

Tim play’s bass guitar and sings some of the vocals in the band Switchfoot. He says that his main influences include Paul McCartney and The Beatles. Not only does he used his musical talents with the band, but he designed the album covers for “Learning to Breathe” and “The Beautiful Letdown”. And also, Tim uses his song writing skills to co-write some of the songs on all of the albums.

As the band’s youngest member at the age of 29, Tim is married to his wife Andrea, and lives with her and their son Jett, of 2 years, in San Diego while not on tour. One of his and the whole band’s favorite past times includes surfing.
