Joe Satriani (a.k.a Satch) is famous for forming G3, a concert tour featuring three instrumental rock guitarists, the original members being Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Clapton. He is influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck, incorporating a warm sound of the guitar with a dominant blues and rock tune. He has worked with many guitarists through the G3 Jam Concerts that are held every year. It is said that he opened the way to the world of insrumental rock, when pop music dominated at that time. Satriani used to be a guitar instructor; his notable students include Steve Vai. He uses many guitar techniques, including Pitch Axis Theory.
