History of Piano

The Piano was first originated in Florence, Italy in the 1700’s. The first name for the piano was pianoforte. Bartolomeo Cristofori was the inventor. He was a key designer for Prince Ferdinand d’ Medici of Florence. At that time the most popular keyboard instrument was the harpsichord and the clavichord. Both of the instruments resulted to the piano in their own ways. Cristofori came up with the idea of replacing the wires with hooks for the two instruments with leather padded hammers so that then the piano would go soft and then loud. There were also many people that had helped with the idea of the piano in the 18 the century. The piano became pretty big during the mid 18 the century. The piano had expression and emotion in the music it played. Composers started to make more music and right songs. The American put pianos into a lot of middle-class homes. Jonas Chickering started a piano manufactured firm. As the piano was getting more and more updated it was a must have in a home. But then a disaster hit to the pianos fame when the radio was invented.
