Emily Hobbs is Walter Hobbs' wife. She is the rational thinker in the family. In other words, she wears the pants in the family. When Walter brings Buddy home, Emily is the one that wants him to stay at the house. She puts up with Buddy's insane craving for sugar, his love for spaghetti and syrup and the fact that he massacred her entertainment center in order to make a rocking horse in the middle of the night. Emily is also the first one to start singing with Jovie when Santa's sleigh falls apart in Central Park and he needs people to believe in him. Because she starts singing with Jovie, Emily helps Santa deliver all of the gifts that he needs to deliver on Christmas night. Emily enjoys being motherly, singing Christmas carols and dealing with her children who chop down trees in Central Park and get restraining orders against people who dress up as Santa Claus. Emily is played by Mary Steenburgen.
