Patriots Defense

Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees is a very experienced coach that has led a very young Patriots defense this season to the playoffs. But if the Pat's want to do good this post-season their young secondary will have to be dominate.Time for the rook's to step it up.
Brandon Merriweather in his first year starting all 16 games at strong safety he finished second on the team in tackles with 83. He has a been a big key to their secondary and without Brandon it would just be plain embarrasing in the season of 2009.

Jerod Mayo became the second Patriots player to win the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. Mayo led the Patriots with 139 tackles in 2008.
Gary Guyton set a career high, starting all 16 games at inside linebacker along with 93 tackles as his frist year with the Patriots and making his frist career sack in the NFL with the Pat's.
