Web Site Reflection

Have you ever explored the wonderful world of web sites? In this common task I created a web site with multiple web pages and flash animations. From this task I learned how to create web pages using Macromedia Dreamweaver. I also learned how to make moving animations with Macromedia Flash. To prepare for this task I first had to be familiar with basic html. Then I learned how to use Dreamweaver and how to correctly format a web page. Furthermore I learned how to make different layers move on Macromedia Flash. The most challenging aspect of this task was the actual construction of the web site. I found this part difficult because not only did I have to research and write the information regarding the web site but I also had to make the website user friendly. The least challenging part of this task was the creation of my flash animations. I found this simple because this part allowed me to be as creative as possible.

I met Academic Learning Standard 1.1; communicate effectively using oral, written, and technological formats, by using the computer programs Dreamweaver and Flash to create the web site. I met Academic Learning Standard 1.2; Meet proficiency in content and applied learning standards as outlined in the Rhode Island High School Diploma System, by meeting all of the requirements of the website. I met Academic Learning Standard 1.4; demonstrate the use of reasoning and problem solving skills and strategies through analysis and synthesis of data and information, by using problem solving to solve problems that came up because all computer programs have glitches. I met Academic Learning Standard 2.1; demonstrate the behaviors and skills for independence and collaboration, by independently creating a website. I met Academic Learning Standard 2.2; participate as a citizen in the local, national, and global community, by using my website making abilities to make websites that better the community. This task has helped me grow as a student by reassuring me that whatever I put my mind to I can accomplish because at times in this common task I thought that I would not get this done.
