DJ KOOL HERC: Clive "DJ Kool Herc" Campbell was born April 16, 1955 in Kingston, Jamaica. Herc is an immigrant that emigrated to the Bronx in 1967 when he was just 12 years old. His first DJ break was at his sisters birthday party, and after that he became a living legend.
AFRIKA BAMBAATA: Disc Jockey Kevin "Afrika Bambaataa Aasim" Donovan was born April 10, 1957 in the South Bronx, New York. Bambaata had taken his name from a 19th century Zulu chief , which means "affectionate leader".

Although DJ Kool Herc is known as the founding father of hip hop Afrika Bambaata had started "DJ battles" in the south Bronx in 1976.
