The iPhone

Before 2007, most phones weren't very sophisticated. They mostly just had numberpads or keyboards. In 2007 the iPhone introduced the most sophisticated type of touch screen, and used it to redesign the mobile phone industry. Without the iPhone, we wouldn't have any of the Android phones we have today. The iPhone has gotten slimmer throughout the generations (shown to the right). The flash to the right is a rudamentary demonstraion of how an iPhone unlocks. The current iPhone is the 4S which is currently one of the most advanced phones on the market.
