The hull is the bottom of a boat, mainly the part that usually stays under the water. The hulls purpose is obviously to protect the inside from water and to give the boat something to put pressure against on the water. Without the proper hull your boat will sink.   The Keel is attached to the hull, but is not the same thing. It is there to serve as a balance mechansim to keep the boat from rocking too much.
