In snowboarding there are a number of different riding styles. These are determined usually by what kind of tricks the rider does.

Some popular styles of snowboarding are:

Jibbing- This style of snowboarding is heavily influenced by skateboarding and mostly involves grinding on poles, boxes and other surfaces other than snow

Free-Riding- The most popular style of riding, free-riding is the most general type and can incorporate elements from other styles. Free-riding generally is done on groomed slopes

Free- Carve- This style is very closely related to downhill skiing and salomn. The bindings of the board are angled so that the feet of the rider are always facing the direction they are going. This type of riding is popular with high speed snowboarders.
