Determining the Score > Home

running 2

In order to score a run, a player must reach all of the bases, including home, without getting out. These runs can be scored in several ways as well:

  1. Each batter hits the ball without receiving an out, and each runner continues to advance to the next base until reaching home
  2. In most forms of softball, batter's are allowed to steal!
  3. If the runner is allowed to walk, any players on the bases are allowed to advance to the next base as well. (NOTE: Players on bases are not allowed to walk unless there is a player behind them)
  4. If the other team makes an error, the players are allowed to continue running across the bases, with the risk of getting tagged if the ball is retrieved again in time. However, if the ball is mistakingly thrown into the foul line, the players are allowed only to advance to the next base.
