Captain Norval Marley

In the year 1944, Captain Norval Marley married a young Jamaican girl named Cedall Barker. On February 6, 1945, Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) was born. Soon after Bob was born, his father left his mother because of the overwhelming conflict over their interracial marriage. However, he did give financial support and occasionally returned to see his son.

With jobs scare in Jamaica during the late 50's, Bob and his mother moved from St. Ann Parish to Trenchtown to seek employment in the big city. In Trenchtown Bob spent a lot of his time with his good friend Neville Livinstone who people called by the nickname of Bunny. While in Trenchtown Bob was exposed to many genres of music and thus his love for music blossmed. It was also in Trenchtown that he would meet various friends that would later make up "the wailers" which was his accompanying band, hense the name "Bob Marley and the Wailers." Bob would later marry his wife Rita, on Februrary 10, 1966. For several years, Bob and his band's success mounted until they reached international stardom. Bob would later die of cancer on May 11, 1981 in Miami, Florida.
