The Diet of the poor versus the Diet of the Wealthy

The Ancient Romans that were poor could afford few luxuries when it came to food. The poor might not be able to afford breakfast. The poor might not be able to afford meats. The poor would eat porridge with bread, meats and vegetables if available, they would eat upright, and had coarse pottery for dishware. The wealthy would have three course meals, which would include an appetizer, the main meal, and a desert. Also, the wealthy reclined when eating, ate on fine pottery or metals. The poor would eat wheat or barley, vegetables, olive oil, and sometimes fish. If they were lucky they might have had dairy and eggs.
