Roman cookery is not difficult but very delicious. Romans loved food that consisted of sweet delicacies like honey combined with spices. Romans used flavored sauces often containing many ingredients. The most commonly used seasoning was liquamen the equivalent of today's strong fish stock it was also factory-produced due to its immense popularity. In the Roman Empire they used different herbs including: Silphium can absorb some of the taste of substances such as pine-kernels if kept in a jar. The main source of sweeting comes from honey which is widely used throughout the roman world. Honey is also used as a preservative for meats and fruits. Cheeses could also be found which was used with bread and in some cakes.
