1999-2002

A local band from Providence , Rhode Island , ZOX consists of 4 members who came together in 1999, at Brown University . A local band from Providence , Rhode Island , ZOX consists of 4 members who came together in 1999, at Brown University . Eli Miller and John Zox met through friends at Brown College . By senior year, they decided to make a band. Eli's roommate was a violinist, and they begged him to join- but he was preoccupied. So, they put an ad in the Providence Weekly looking for a 'punk violinist'. They began practicing almost everyday together, and in the summer of 2002, after Eli & John graduated, they began working in the basement of a recording studio recording Take Me Home. They met up with former classmate, Dan Edinberg, when their former bassist left.

 

2003-2004

The band's first album, Take Me Home, is released. They begin opening for numerous bands such as, The Black Eyed Peas, O.A.R., Rusted Root, Everclear, The Sugar Hill Gang, Goldfinger, Dispatch, Live, Guster, and Flogging Molly.

 

2005

ZOX's second album, The Wait, is released. It quickly became the top-selling album in Rhode Island, and topped the charts on Billboard Magazine's Internet Album Charts, (in-between The Black Eyes Peas and Coldplay)

 

2006-2007

The band signs with SideOneDummy Records and The Wait is re-released in Canada and the United States. They toured with Rusted Roots and the Warped Tour, followed by their first ever European Tour. ZOX is now producing their third album which should be due out in late 2007.
