The United States Military has been using aircraft for various purposes since the beginning of the 20th century. Basic aircrafts were first used effectively in WWI, and more advanced designs played a large role in the Second World War. Soon after the end of these wars, the U.S Government formally created the United States Air Force in 1947. Today, Military aircraft play a large role in all three branches of the United States Armed Services. The Aircraft we are using today is incredibly advanced, with some planes capable of achieving speeds three times the speed of sound, and carrying tremendous payloads. Military aviation has changed a lot in the last century, but its effectiveness in combat situations has remained enormous.
