The Narragansett High School hockey team was formed only three years ago after the University of Rhode Island built it's Bradford R. Boss arena. A lot of intrest was shown in creating a team to compeate in the RIIL.
For over a year Narragansett and South Kingstown had been joined in the south county Crush a club hockey team and after a year both schools felt ready to start up teams. With a small core of players and families that had been playing togather for years Mariner Hockey got permissio from the school committee to start a team to compete in the Interscholastic Leauge.
Division III was reconfigured into an north, central, and south divisions because Narragansett, South Kingstown, and Prout all joined at the same time. they were all placed in the south division with Middletown, and Rogers High school.
