The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankee rivalry started when Harry Frazee sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees for $100,000 on January 3, 1920. At the time Babe Ruth was an average pitcher and a solid hitter. He was overall a solid player. He later became the 3rd all time homerun leader, behind Barry Bonds and Hank Aaron, with 714 homeruns with a career batting average of .342. Most people believe that the Great Bambino started this curse which haunted the Red Sox for 86 years until they won the world series in 2004.
Source This fight occured on July 4, 2004 when Varitek said something to Alex Rodriguez who did not like the comment. So they both started talking trash to each other whicch shortly after lead to the fight. When Rodriguez and Varitek went at it with each other, more players tried to break up the chaos. They were both broken up and nobody got injured. But both players got suspended indefinetly.
Source This trade might have been argueably the worst trade in MLB history. The Babe was a promising player that later turned out to be one of the best players of all time. In return for Ruth, the Red Sox recieved $100,000 from the New York Yankees which was not enough because it took the Red Sox 86 years to finally win a world series. The Yankees won 26 world series ever since they joined the MLB. You could say that the 2004 Boston Red Sox reversed the curse.
