Ahhh...Milwaukee. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, this city is not the ideal place for vacations but it's beer and sausage festivals attract thousands from around the globe. The population of Milwaukee is nearly 600,000 and is the 22nd largest city in the United States. "Milwaukee has four very distinct seasons. Lake Michigan cools the city in the warm months and moderate cold temperatures in the winter. Average temperatures are 78 degress F in the summer, 59 degrees in the autumn, 29 degrees in the winter, and 53 degrees in the spring. Milwaukee receives about 33 inches of rain per year, including 47 inches of snow" (Milwaukee Bucks Media Guide 2007-2008).
Long before the first settlers came to this area, the Algonkian Indians had a special name for the land: Milloki, which means "gathering place by the waters."
