Kobe Bryant was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the youngest child out of three kids. He was the child of Joe and Pam Bryant and his sisters names are Shaya and Sharia Bryant. At the age of 6, his father joe left the NBA too move the family to Italy, and started playing professional basketball there. Kobe Bryant became accustomed to italy lifestyle and learned to speak Italian. At an early age, he learned to play soccer. He has said that if he had stayed in Italy, he would have tried to become a professional soccer player.

At 18 years old, five months and five days, Kobe became the youngest starter in NBA history. Weeks later, during the All-Star Weekend, he set a record with 31 points in the Rookie Game and later won the Slam Dunk Contest and was the first Laker ever to do so.
