Creating a Website

Have you ever constructed a multi-page website including pictures and information related to the website? Well, throughout the second semester in Web Graphics & Design, the class and I had to create a webpage on a specific topic we desired. Each website had to have eight separate pages with a navigation bar at the top of each. For a topic, I chose the wonderful, action-packed sport of football. While completing this task, I had to use numerous skills. One skill I had to use while completing this task was to utilize problem solving skills. For instance, on several occasions I had to figure out what to do when my website would not open properly and these skills were imperative in figuring out the dilemma.

The first step in completing the website was to create an outline of the site with a target audience and purpose of every page. Then, using Macromedia Dreamweaver, I had to create tables and position the information about the specific webpage along with some pictures in the best looking layout. There were multiple obstacles I encountered during the process of creating a website. One problem I encountered was that I did not have enough time and I felt rushed. To correct the problem, I stayed after school various days to catch up on my work. For the duration of this task I had to use all the skills I learned previously using Macromedia Dreamweaver and similar programs. This task helped me understand Web Design, since all the content I learned in this class I had to apply throughout this task.

The completion of this task has helped me as a student in an assortment of ways. One way the completion of this task has helped me as a student, is that I now have the ability to search the internet for legitimate pictures and valid information with ease. This skill will benefit me in future classes and assignments since I will need to use the web to find applicable information for the rest of my education and possibly even in some of my future careers. Another example the completion of this task has helped me develop as a student is that I needed every webpage to be grammatically accurate and error free. This skill will benefit me in future classes, because everything I write needs to be accurate and structured, and organized properly.
