“I learned from my teachers but became through my music”, a lyric from the song The Town by hip hop artist, Macklemore. I saw and connected with this lyric as I came across it while doing my web design common task. For this task, I had to pick a topic of interest and create a web site on Adobe Dreamweaver making sure I included a flash, a reflection page; a works cited page, and at least 5 extra pages. In order to do this task, the class learned about creating basic web pages on Dreamweaver and got a little more in depth every time we made a new one. We learned to make an outline of the pages and how to make things come together. Once we finished our lesson on that, we began to learn about how to make Adobe Flash gifs. That was when we began to work on our own websites.  Doing this task, I acquired skills on how to make a flash and use the program, as well as with Dreamweaver. I also acquired better planning skills to begin my page. I demonstrated very good time management skills doing this task. I made sure I had certain things done and ready by certain dates throughout this project. This left me with plenty of time to spare.  These skills were very important in order to get this task done. Without them, I would not know the first thing to do when it came to making this site.

In order to create the website, I began by managing my site. I had to make sure I saved each file without any spaces in the names. I then added and saved each page I would need, putting a title on each of the html sites. I then added all the content (text, pictures, media) I needed to all of my pages. I made sure to site each of these on my works cited pages and on the individual pages as I added them. I created a top and bottom navigation bar, a site logo, a background image, and a copyright on each and every page. Once I had the basic and easy parts of my site done and accomplished, I began my flash. I saved that, exported it, saved it into my site file, and put it onto my flash page.  Once I finished that, my page was completed! I think the biggest obstacles in making this page had to be making the flash for it and making sure each page worked and looked right. The main thing I did to trouble shoot the errors was asking and trying to google things in order to see where I went wrong. It was definitely an easy fix though. This task helped me to understand web design mainly because this task was exactly that. I had to come up with a subject and design a website that looked appropriate for my topic. I got to choose what went where and how things would work.

The completion of this task helped me as a student because it bettered my technology skills. I have a better understanding of what can be done and used. It also brought out the creativity in me, which could very much better my student career. I anticipate using these skills in the future maybe to create more websites and/or gifs as well as potentially using them for projects.
