Florence the, capital of Tuscany, is one of the most famous and historical cities in Italy. Florence being the birthplace of the Renaissance, has been the center of art for hundreds of years. Florence was home to many famous figures in the history of Italy such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. The most notable family to come out of Florence would be the Medici. The Medici ruled Florence since 1569 starting with Cosimo de Medici and ending in 1737 with the death of the last of the line in the Medici family, Gian Gastone de Medici. The Medici family shaped the outcome of the Renaissance, and in turn, shaped some aspects of today's society.
