Creating a Website
How many times have you been using the internet and stumbled across an unhelpful or hard-to-use website? If you are a frequent user, the answer could be too many. For this task, I created an informational website about cats. The website was made using Adobe Dreamweaver. Within the site, I had to have a number of different pages, showing my skills. I also had to create a Flash animation relating to my topic, cats. In class we practiced HTML coding and using Dreamweaver all year and also made many Flash animations. Before taking web graphics and design, I had very minimal knowledge about creating websites but I feel as if I can do a lot now. Computer technology is continuously growing and becoming more available in our modern society and I know I will be able to use this information in the future.  To create this website I typed up a plan and made a graphic organizer so I could process my ideas before making the website. Next, I made the Flash animation using Adobe Flash Professional which was a new program for me. Parts of the Flash creation gave me trouble, but I overcame the difficulties by trying out different things and did the best I could with minimal help from my peers and Mr. Herz. After making the Flash I researched about cats and started making the website. By doing this project I was able to build my web design skills. I now know how to do some simple coding and use the many features of Dreamweaver and Flash. This task helped me as a student because I used a lot of problem solving and technology. Problem solving is a good skill for all people to have, not just students, and it will stick with me forever so I can find ways to fix things with little frustration. Using technology is important because as mentioned, it is a growing field and will always be in my life.
