Sea Lions gather all of their food from the sea, eating more than 50 species of fish and other marine life including squid, octopus, herring, and more.

According to SeaWorld, California sea lions consume about 5-8 percent of their body weight per day. That totals from 15-40 pounds in one day!

It has been found that some sea lions, including the California sea lion, will swallow stones. One sea lion was found to have 60 pounds of stones in its stomach! It is unknown why sea lions do this, but some think that it adds extra weight while swimming, to help stop irritation of parasites, and helping the sea lion digest.
