Sea Lions have different personalities depending on where they are living. For example, young juvinile sea lions have a more playful attitude. They play with each other by pushing each other off of rocks, riding waves, and practice territorial battles. Adults do not do this as often. While in captivity, sea lions are seen to be very friendly and social animals.

Along with basic territorial boundaries, Sea Lions have territories when mating as well. Specifically, California Sea Lions keep their mating territories from May through August.
