Life Span

According to the National Geographic Channel, a singular Giraffes life expectancty male or female can last to about 25 years in the wild, and in captivity they can last to about 28 years.

The giraffe typically gives birth to one calf, during the first week of its life the mother carefully guards her calf. Young giraffes are very weak and cannot defend themselves. When the calf is born it can be up to 6.5 ft tall! The calves stay with their mother for about a year and half, then go out on their own. Giraffes usually live for 25 years.
