DOES HIPHOP INFLUENCE AMERICA'S VIOLENCE?
This question has been analyzed over and over. People have asked this question since the gangsta error emerged. Does hiphop influence the world of violence? My answer to that is there is an influence, but hiphop and rap arent the soul creators of violence in America. For instance, Eric Clapton and Bob Marley's "I shot the sheriff" is a perfect example of violence in music well before hiphop even became what it is. Think about the mid-west and Jesse James and his bandits. History states that even he killed people. Other entertainment such as television, video games and movies all before rap music put a very big impact on America's culture of violence. Some say were the "culture of violence" and that America grew up on violent media. I'm not saying that hiphop and rap music are scotch free, but they certainly never started the trend. If anything, the trend was adapted by tgangsta rap from the media before hand. Today though, there is a big involvement because now this is the generation we live in. Everything is mainstream and a lot of the content is violent.
