Description of the Unit, Lesson or Project

This project goes along with Chapter 7 from the Prentice Hall Algebra I text. Students will chose and complete one row of a math RAFT. They will use the written product from the RAFT to complete a digital Photo Story using Microsoft PhotoStory software.

Standards Addressed:

M(G&M)𤾃, M(F&A)𤾃, M(F&A)𤾄

Body:

The math RAFT correlates with Chapter 7 from the Algebra I text. This chapter explores parallel and perpendicular lines, standard and slope-intercept forms of writing a linear equation, horizontal and vertical lines, slope, linear equations, and coordinate graphing. The RAFT is designed so that students select a Role from the chart. Then students work across the row on the RAFT. The Audience, Format, and Topic are set for each Role on the RAFT. Each Format in the RAFT is a written product.

Once students have produced a written product for their selected RAFT, students will then put together a digital photo story to correlate with their product. This product will be a series of pictures and narration of their product so that they can associate pictures with the written product.
