Entry into the National Jr. Honor Society is based on five qualities: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, Citizenship, and Service
In terms of Scholarship, students must have a cumulative average of 90 for the first three quarters of the school year to qualify for membership. Grades will be calculated after the 3rd quarter only for those students who have submitted community service hours.
Students must have completed a minimum of 12 hours of approved community service by the deadline to qualify for membership.
In order to avoid a last minute rush of service projects submissions, students are encouraged to submit service hours as they are completed.
Final Deadline for all service hours: April 30, 2014
Only service hours served from July 2013 through April 2014 are acceptable.
All service projects must involve work for organizations, NOT individuals. For example, babysitting for a neighbor is not considered appropriate for this project, but providing childcare for an organized group (i.e. Church, the YMCA, etc.) is appropriate.
An adult other than a parent must supervise each project. The supervising adult must be listed on and sign the community service record sheet.
